How climbing boosts children’s development

All of us are drawn to playing whether we are 6 months or 60 years old. While playing, we learn crucial lessons of our life along with physical and mental development that play brings to us. Climbing is one of the activities that kids love to do. All the thrill seekers and explorers have their favourite go to activity – climbing! Climbing not only aids a child’s physical and mental development but also improves their creativity, memory retention and critical thinking skills.
It assists in the development of motor skills, strengthens memory and spatial awareness.

Holzhof climbing netWhen kids start climbing at a very young age they hone their directional and spatial awareness. With their grasps and holds they develop their motor skills and their physical development also gets a boost. Use of both hands and feet to climb and hold has been shown to enhance a child’s ability to understand body position and movement which they’d lost without that agility!

It’s not ‘all play and no study’, rather climbing as an activity has a positive impact on learner’s academic performance. Including alternative activities like climbing in the daily schedule of a child helps in major academic improvements. Along with improvement in academic performance the disciplinary incidents also drop down.

Improvement in Problem Solving Skills

Our mind treats the climbing pathway as a problem that we need to overcome. Children use their cognitive skills and logic while climbing. It helps them adapt to new environments, makes them determined and improves their planning.

It’s a puzzle that is waiting to be solved by the children, making them learn the value of coordination, decision making and problem solving.  To create a really good climbing solution in your outdoor playgrounds, look at some of the climbing equipment we have on offer for your.
